Here, US 6/395 has three different alignments. The earliest was paved and upgraded in the 1920's. This is the longest and highest of the alignments. In the 1950's, a newer alignment further down the alluvial fan was built. That alignment still retains its white striping, but most of the culverts were either removed or washed out. In the 1960's, the present expressway alignment of US 6/395 was built even lower down the fan.
