- Harold
Harold looking south along Sierra Highway.
Sierra Highway crosses the railroad tracks just south of town. It stays on
the east side of the tracks until just past Palmdale. Note the milepost for route 14.

Closeup of the milemarker.
Harold was a town founded as a railroad watering stop. Nothing remains of the telegraph station that was once here. This section of Sierra Highway was originally paved in 1921 and straightened in 1934. The freeway bypassed it in 1966.
