Foothill Freeway
Map of Foothill Freeway from 1958.
In 1955, the first segment of the Foothill Freeway was constructed. It
went from Foothill Blvd. near Gould Ave. east to near the intersection of Montana Ave. and
Canada Ave. When the new Foothill Freeway was constructed here in 1974, the freeway was
realigned over the Arroyo Seco. The remaining section of the old freeway were
decommissioned and turned into a city street. That section contains one of the grade
separations, ramps, mileage signs, and part of the old median. It is rather unusual to
drive it as it appears as a vacant freeway.
