Virtual Tour of the Ridge Route

Ridge Route - Templin Highway

Templin Highway was built as an access route to the Castaic Power plant in 1968. The power plant is a part of the California State Water Project. It was that project that caused the rerouting of US 99. Before Templin Highway was built, the Ridge Route continued on a level path across here. Looking up, one can see some of the concrete that was bulldozed.

This is the last intersection until SR-138. There are no gas stations until Gorman which is another 35 miles north of here. Traveling south, Castaic is only 7 miles from here.
