Los Angeles Area Geology

Welcome to the Los Angeles Geology Page. This site will cover some of the more unique aspects of the geology around Los Angeles. I hope to cover each valley and mountain range. Watch for updates in the coming weeks!

The Greater Los Angeles area is a very interesting place, geologically. It is an area with deep sedimentary basins, steep mountains, lots of faulting - with plenty of seismic activity to boot! The San Gabriel Mountains, to the north, rise to over 10,000'.
